Use Bookmark Folder Names as Group Names
Section titled “Use Bookmark Folder Names as Group Names”This feature automatically assigns tab group names based on bookmark folder structure when opening bookmarked URLs.
Location: Settings → Tabs → Advanced Tab Groups → Use bookmark folder names as group names (disabled by default)
How it Works
Section titled “How it Works”When this option is enabled:
- If an opened URL exists in your bookmarks, the tab will automatically be assigned to a group
- The group name is derived from the bookmark’s folder hierarchy
- This provides automatic organization based on your existing bookmark structure
Folder Level Selection
Section titled “Folder Level Selection”When the feature is enabled, you can also configure the Bookmark Folder Level setting to control which part of the folder hierarchy is used as the group name:
Available Options
Section titled “Available Options”Top-level Folder
- Uses only the highest level folder name as the group name
- Example: If bookmark is in
Work/Projects/Website, group name will be “Work”
Parent Folder
- Uses the immediate parent folder name as the group name
- Example: If bookmark is in
Work/Projects/Website, group name will be “Projects”
Full Path
- Uses the complete folder hierarchy as the group name
- Example: If bookmark is in
Work/Projects/Website, group name will be “Work/Projects/Website”
