Creating Groups
Section titled “Creating Groups”VertiTab provides multiple ways to create tab groups, helping you organize related tabs together for better workflow management.
Single Tab Grouping
Section titled “Single Tab Grouping”Add Tab to Group Menu
Section titled “Add Tab to Group Menu”Right-click on any tab to access grouping options:
- Right-click on a tab
- Select “Add Tab to Group”
- Choose from available options:
New Group
Section titled “New Group”- Creates a new group with the selected tab
- Opens a dialog to set group name and color
- Auto-complete suggestions: Tab title, website domain, and custom group names
- Random color: Automatically assigns a random color
- Enter to save: Press Enter to quickly create the group
Group by Site (Premium)
Section titled “Group by Site (Premium)”- Automatically groups tabs by website domain
- Requires premium subscription
- Groups all tabs from the same domain together
Add to Existing Group
Section titled “Add to Existing Group”- Shows list of existing groups with colored indicators
- Displays group titles or representative tab names
- Click to add the tab to the selected group
Multi-Tab Grouping
Section titled “Multi-Tab Grouping”Select Multiple Tabs
Section titled “Select Multiple Tabs”Use these methods to select multiple tabs:
- Drag selection: Drag across multiple tabs
- Ctrl/⌘ + Click: Add individual tabs to selection
- Shift + Click: Select range of tabs
Group Selected Tabs
Section titled “Group Selected Tabs”- Right-click on any selected tab
- Select “Add Tab to Group”
- Same options as single tab grouping:
- New Group: Creates group with all selected tabs
- Group by Site: Groups selected tabs by their domains
- Add to Existing Group: Adds all selected tabs to chosen group
Drag and Drop Grouping
Section titled “Drag and Drop Grouping”Tab to Tab
Section titled “Tab to Tab”When dragging tab(s) over another tab, hover to access:
- Move Tabs: Reposition tabs
- Add to Group: Create new group with both tabs
- Group as Tree: (Tree view only) Create parent-child relationship
Using Hover Menu
Section titled “Using Hover Menu”- Drag a tab or selected tabs
- Hover over target tab/group for configured time
- Select grouping option from context menu
Group Creation Dialog
Section titled “Group Creation Dialog”When creating a new group, you can configure:
Group Name
Section titled “Group Name”- Auto-complete options:
- Current tab title
- Website domain name
- Previously used custom group names
- Free text input: Type any custom name
- Default behavior: Uses first tab title if enabled in settings
Group Color
Section titled “Group Color”- Random assignment: Automatically selects random color
- Manual selection: Click on any available color
- Visual preview: See color before saving
- Required: Must select a color to create group
Keyboard Shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard Shortcuts”- Enter: Save group (when color is selected)
- Escape: Cancel group creation
Settings Integration
Section titled “Settings Integration”Group creation respects these settings:
Use First Tab Title as Group Name
Section titled “Use First Tab Title as Group Name”- Enabled: Automatically fills group name with first tab’s title
- Disabled: Starts with empty group name field
Custom Group Remember
Section titled “Custom Group Remember”- Enabled: Saves group names for auto-complete suggestions
- Site-specific: Remembers group names per domain
