Renaming Tabs

You can change the title of any tab to make it easier to identify and organize your work.

Tab renaming lets you give a custom name to any tab. The new name shows in the VertiTab sidebar, while the original page title stays unchanged in the browser.

  1. Right-click on any tab
  2. Select “Rename Tab”
  3. Type your new title
  4. Click Save
  • Click in the VertiTab sidebar first
  • Press F2 to rename the selected tab
  • New Title - Type your custom name
  • Remember Title for Site - Apply this name to similar pages from the same website
  • Update Page Title - Also change the page title (not just VertiTab display)

When you check “Remember Title for Site”, VertiTab will automatically use your custom title for similar pages from the same website.

  • Exact Match - Only applies to this specific page
  • Contains Match - Applies to similar pages with different parameters (only available for URLs with ? in them)

This saves time if you often visit similar pages that you want to rename consistently.

To go back to the original title:

  1. Right-click on the renamed tab
  2. Select “Rename Tab”
  3. Click the “Restore” button

This will:

  • Remove your custom title
  • Delete any site memory rules for this page
  • Return the tab to its original name
  • F2 - Open rename dialog (sidebar must be focused)
  • Enter - Save changes
  • Escape - Cancel
  • Shorten long page titles for easier reading
  • Add project names to related tabs
  • Simplify recurring meeting links
  • Organize research tabs with clear names
